HOCKEY BLOG Last shift - 10/10/05 Its just a crime that new Capital Jeff Friesen is wearing number 12 - adorned for years by Mr. Capital, Peter Bondra. Someone ought to knock it right off him... Speaking of the Caps, super-rookie Alexander Ovechkin is beyond fun to watch! He will fill the seats... maybe everywhere except in Washington, Chicago and Long Island.  With all eyes on Sidney Crosby, people are missing a budding Peter Forsberg(and some) in Ovechkin.  Don't get us wrong, Crosby has already made some Gretzky-like passes and netted his first NHL goal, and just may be the next Great One, but watching Ovechkin is more entertaining.  He hits... hard and often, digs puck out of the corners with ease, is responsible defensively, passes, and shoots like Ilya Kovalchuk.  Shame on coach Glen Hanlon for not playing him more.  He gets his even strength and power play time yes, but is rotting on the bench during the ton of short-handed time.  Bottom line, watching Ovechkin in person or live on television is a must, and right now, you only need to watch Crosby on the highlights the next day... The NHL and it's players are doing a lot of good things post-lockout, but they shot it wide(by 10 feet) on not renewing the license of In The Game trading cards to produce cards for the 2005/2006 season.  The sole producer is Upper Deck.  Terrible, terrible, did we say terrible?   ARE YOU KIDDING?
